Yuan if you've read the last 7, you don't need me to tell you to continue.if you've just come across this review by chance, the series is sort of a spin-off of the disappearance of haruhi suzumiya, using that as an opportunity to pair up not-robotic yuki and kyon. if that makes any sense to you, go back to volume 1 and start reading.this volume... it's like the rest, the relationship deepens. it's hard to say anything else without spoilers (as if it wasn't obvious already).

I can't say I want to spoil it but things are starting to get a little interesting. As we know with melancholy of haruhi suzumiya, it's a mystery manga and crazy things happen. This may be a romance manga but this one hits a spot with mystery. I won't say what happened but I'm starting to worry about what will happen.*mini spoiler*A certain fortune speaks of bad news.....very interesting indeed and very worrying.

This series is an alternate universe to the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya series in which Nagato Yuki is a real Hunan being. It does not have the SciFi elements of the Haruhi series. Kyon and Yuki develop their romantic relationship is a very slow and painful yet humorous matter. This series does not have the Manic Energy of the Haruhi series, but still very enjoyable!

Avengers by Kurt Busiek & George Perez Vol. 2 Omnibus (The Avengers Omnibus), by Kurt Busiek, Roger Stern, Fabian Nicieza, Roy Thomas, Steve Englehart

Review "The Busiek/Pérez run on Avengers is one of the high points of the series, re-cementing the importance of the team in the Marvel Universe, as well as redefining some of the classic characters -- most notably Ultron, in this collection. Like really scary Ultron tales? Then you'll love this! Pérez moved on to other projects soon after this story, paving the way for some other great artists to step in, including Stuart Immonen, Alan Davis, and Jerry Ordway, just to mention some of my favorites. A great run of stories and an amazing era of the series!" -- KC Carlson "Now this is the book I've been waiting for! I have most of the first omnibus in various paperbacks, but I've held off on reading the epic "Kang Dynasty" until this book came out. Plus it includes the core issues of Maximum Security for full completeness; Volume 1 similarly collected Avengers Forever. -- Doug Glassman"Maximum Security is an entertaining and tightly scripted crossover involving many of Marvel's cosmic entities, including Ronan, Ego, Quasar, the Shi'ar, the Skrull, and the Supreme Intelligence. Despite the giant cast of characters, however, little back knowledge is required of readers to follow the events. Particularly noteworthy are John Romita Jr.'s beautiful layouts for Avengers #35." -- G. Steirer "The Avengers philosophize about what constitutes life, while fighting Alkhema and her robotic civilization in Avengers: The Ultron Imperative ... a "jam" comic [with] writers and artists taking turns handling each part of the story. In this case, former Avengers writers Roy Thomas, Roger Stern, and Steve Englehart join Kurt Busiek to craft an outstanding tale."-- Steve Horton"Busiek's run is one of the great Avengers runs of all time, up there with Thomas and Stern ... Busiek really gets the personalities and relationships of the classic Avengers." -- David P. Lyons

About the Author Kurt Busiek has been writing comic books professionally since selling his first Green Lantern script to DC Comics in 1982. Well-known for his encyclopedic knowledge of comic-book history, Busiek's career reached superstar status in 1994 with Marvels, painted by Alex Ross. Chronicling the landmark events of the early Marvel Universe from an ordinary reporter's point of view, this ground-breaking project earned Busiek and Ross the prestigious Eisner Award for Best Finite Series. Busiek's writing highlights include Thunderbolts and Iron Man, as well as his collaboration with artist George Pérez on Avengers and the historic JLA/Avengers crossover. Busiek continues to write his creator-owned Astro City, now in its 20th year. George Pérez has been a legend in the comic-book industry seemingly since his first professional work in 1973. Pérez had already drawn nearly every major character at both Marvel and DC -- including the New Teen Titans, the Justice League of America, the Fantastic Four and the Avengers -- when he illustrated Crisis on Infinite Earths, a massive series that redefined the DC Universe for a generation. Next, he embarked on an acclaimed five-year run on Wonder Woman. Well-known for his skills handling large casts of characters, Pérez surpassed all expectations with his artwork on JLA/Avengers, a 2003 crossover that featured nearly every member of both teams.

Busiek's Swan Song on Avengers By Anarchy in the US [[VIDEOID:8bc5ebc4bfc0d8d8a067b877fb31aa42]] After the successful release of volume 1, Marvel releases the second omnibus of Kurt Busiek and George Perez work on Avengers, regarded as one of the best version ever done. I’m not one to say something that pretentious, but it is pretty good. And although the second volume doesn’t quite live up to the standards of the first one, it is still a heck of a solid bookend.AVENGERS BY KURT BUSIEK AND GEORGE PEREZ VOL.2 OMNIBUS collects the following:Avengers Assemble, Vol. 3(Avengers #24-34, Annual 2000; Thunderbolts 42-44)Avengers Assemble, Vol. 4(Avengers #35-44, Annual 2001, Maximum Planet 1-3, Maximum Security: Dangerous Planet)Avengers Assemble, Vol. 5(Avengers #45-56, 1 ½ , Avengers: The Ultron Imperative)(For further details, please click on the links provided. They off more information than me writing it all down.)Volume 2 carries on all the big action and classic drama about it. The Avengers stories in this tome include the likes of a certain dead character coming back to life, every Avenger taking on Count Nefaria, seeing numerous B/C-list characters take the spotlight and save Earth from the Maximum Planet arc, to finally ending Busiek’s tenure of the series with the epic 16-part (yes, 16!) story of the “Kang Dynasty/Kang War”, that rivals the famous “Ultron Unlimited” in scope and ambition.Whereas Marvel decided to strip away much of the corniness from the 90s and make the Busiek’s work back-to-basics/core values, this second omnibus started to veer into the new millennium with a bit more social commentary. The plots are still simple, have their fair share of corniness, the cast as massive as before, and plenty of action and humor, with Thor still getting some of the funniest moments (like fetching the mail). Busiek includes the catch-22 of having new characters like Triathlon, regardless of sex or race, being in current comics. Busiek also runs on modern superheroes compared to mythology with the Avengers fighting the media, Captain America dealing with doing his job and being hated for it, and wrestling with the Vision/Scarlet Witch/Wonder Man love angle.Although George Perez work is highly responsible for doing art on majority of the run, his last issue on art is issue #34. Perez does majority of art duties all the way up until issue #34 (with Stuart Immonen doing issue #26 His art is insanely detailed, bold in action, and features tons of character at one time. It’s phenomenal art work, but this was the last of penciling with Busiek. Thankfully, Marvel pulls out the stops with a host of top tier artist lend throughout like Norm Breyfogle Mark Bagley, Jerry Ordway, Steve Epting, Alan Davis, and John Romita Jr. are just some examples that carry on the work set from Perez. As for this omnibus, it’s true Marvel style: oversized-hardcover, sewn binding, and glossy/non-reflective archive paper stock to have no gutter loss. Not a lot of extras to be found, with an interview page, 8-pages of Busiek’s script, and the Marvel trading cards.Although I am giving this omnibus 5-star ratings, I feel it’s a tad more around 4 ½ score. The obvious flaw to begin with here is Perez not doing art duties after issue #34. It’s not necessarily a real problem, merely Perez art set the tone majority of the series and the other artist don’t quite add up, not to mention the changing artist make for somewhat rough art transition. The halfway point of the book also shares a fair amount of crossovers that happen from other series. They do not interrupt the flow that bad where you get the general gist of the plot, but it is still noticeable.Still, if you bought and loved volume 1, you’ll enjoy AVENGERS BY KURT BUSIEK AND GEORGE PEREZ VOL.2 OMNIBUS. Still retains high action, classic/cheesy drama in ode to the 60’s Lee/Kirby work, great artwork, and the “Kang Dynasty/Kang War” story alone merit the price. Add another great addition to your shelves, omnibus collectors.

I've always been a super fan of Clint barton, so if a storyline or series sucks I'm one of the first to sound the angry fangirl alarm, so my praise does not tend to be spread lightly.Fraction's Hawkeye series was futzing awesome hands down, so seeing someone else's name on the cover had me cringing and preparing myself for a huge let down (no offense, I'm just protective of my favorite comic heroes) but that all changed rather quickly.Lemire's take on Hawkeye is amazing! He keeps with fraction's version but takes it and makes it so much more. The story flows easier, the storyline is more solid, and the characters have so much more structure to them.I mean for readers coming over from fraction you're reading and seeing the same hawkeye you've grown to love but now there's this solidness to the characters where there use to be this shakiness to them. You're getting a better feel for the characters and the storyline. To the new readers, you're stepping into these really awesomely structured characters' lives and a storyline that you can jump into and not struggle to fully comprehend. The flashbacks are perfectly tied in, you get this back and forth that really puts the reasoning behind actions and characteristics while also emotionally investing you into wanting to see where things are heading. To finish this off (because I can literally go on for hours) hawkeye volume 5 is amazing and I can't wait for the next one!!!!

4 of 5 people found the following review helpful. All-New Creative Team, Same-Old Hawkguy By Anarchy in the US After the breakout success of 2012 film Avengers, the groups archer/support member Clint Barton, AKA Hawkeye, merited an on-going comic series written by Matt Fraction and penciled by David Aja. Surprisingly, the series took off a critical and commercial success in numerous ways for the comic world. With 23 issues under their belt, Fraction/Aja left the series because of the numerous delays and other aspects never explained for. So with success of a series, Marvel is bound to continue the success with a new creative team. The surprise itself is Jeff Lemire taking up writing duties, who did past work for DC (ironically enough with their own archer, Green Arrow.) Even more surprisingly is Lemire carries on Fractions work and, although not up to the same creative success, is still a good series.HAWKEYE VOL.5: ALL-NEW HAWKEYE collects issues #1-5. Clint Barton and Kate Bishop are on a assignment from S.H.I.E.L.D to locate three weapons in a Hydra facility. In the thick of things, Clint and Kate find the truth of the weapons and they are not prepared to handle what this means. That’s the general idea for the plot without giving things away, but if you’re one who enjoyed the tone of Fraction’s work, then I think will pleasantly happy. Lemire keeps the Clint/Kate dictomony intact with each one being Hawkeye, so their banter is still fun and offbeat as they fight their way through Hydra forces. It’s nowhere near the same level of clever wit as Fraction, but it does fine on its own. The greatest aspect Lemire carries over from Fraction is the more serious undertones near the end, including the flashbacks and to Clint’s childhood friend, Barney.Lemire excels at character motives and he sticks it here. Whereas about 40-50% of the story takes place in the present with Clint and Kate, the majority of the book is flashbacks to Clints upbringing. Lemire keeps Clints Marvel origin intact, yet still makes some tweaks that make for compelling stuff. We get Clint’s origin, reasoning for the circus, his meeting with Swordmaster, and the inevitable breakdown of Clint and the circus. The way Lemire cuts from present to past to end the book works and hopefully gets answered in the future.Because Lemire’s scripts thrive on flashbacks for hitting proper emotional beats, Ramon Perez art work brings the script to life. Perez does all 5-issues and reasonably carries on David Aja/Javier Pulido style, yet his greatest contribution is the flashbacks. The flashback artwork is done entirely in blueish/purple water colors with a collogue design to it.The only flaws I have, and it’s not so much a problem, is that Lemire’s Hawkeye just doesn’t have that special quality about it. No offense to Lemire because he is a very capable writer and carries over Fractions work reasonably well, yet because comparisons are bound to happen (this volume labeled 5 does confuse people whereas restarting it to volume 1 might have been more suitable). And because half of the book is flashbacks, the other present day story is limited and ends on a cliffhanger.Still, HAWKEYE VOL.5: ALL-NEW HAWKEYE takes on some big shoes from Fraction and carries on commendably the work, yet also is a decent starting volume for new readers who did not read Fractions work. The short present day story and level of charm/humor doesn’t quite level up to the previous creative team, but it doesn’t hamper the overall story. It will be interesting to see where Lemire and Perez go from here.

I’m happy to say that I’m very pleased with Lemire and Perez’s Hawkeye By Reading Bifrost “You know, this whole not-hearing-thing is really messing with my banter. I probably would have laid half-a-dozen real zingers on you by now.”I have to admit I was not expecting much out of this; not after reading Fraction and Aja’s version of Hawkeye. I’m happy to say that I’m very pleased with Lemire and Perez’s Hawkeye.Kate and Clint are working for S.H.I.E.L.D against a Hydra base to uncover a secret weapon. It’s nice to see Kate working as an agent/Avenger-in-training. What they don’t see coming is that the Hydra weapon is about to test their morals and loyalties; to each other and to S.H.I.E.L.D.Half of this comic is dedicated to Clint’s not-so-nice childhood, flipping back and forth from past to present. It works in revealing how he got his name and the majority of his attitude. His older brother, Barney, also has a major role to play in both his past and present situations. What I love the most about Clint’s character in this version is that he is deaf! Since he was first deafened in the 1980s by Mockingbird, writers have been only hinting at the fact or completely writing around it. I was worried when Fraction’s run ended and Hawkeye was picked up by Lemire that it would just be shoved under a rug again. Not only did he keep it in, Lemire highlighted it! Great job.Anytime Clint and Kate are together there’s always a deep chemistry between them. Not necessarily romantic, but great partners. They banter back and forth (mostly on Clint’s bad names for his ‘special’ arrows), but they also have fallouts. Kate has a bad temper, and Clint is lazy when it comes to any kind of relationship.Overall, I think Hawkeye fans will enjoy this one and I’m looking forward to the next!

Rhetta is married to a retired Judge, now artist, and enjoys her life and friends. Her associate is an Afganistan/Iraq war veteran, Woody. Woody has PTSD but is loyal to his wife, Rhetta, and the U.S. of A.A German nationalist (Green Card) citizen has come to their bank to refinance his home. Both Rhetta and Woody have a funny 'feeling' about him and his silent wife. Just after receiving his money, which was a large amount, the client dies rather mysteriously. As they are the insurance agents on record, Rhetta and Woody go to the auto impound to 'look' around. What they find is terrifying and no one will listen to them. One thing is for sure, everyone who sees the document, dies. This is a fast-paced, exciting, quirky, and at times frustrating novel of suspense. The crime is all too real. The frustration comes from knowing that Rhetta is right, no one will give you a listen. You will be considered paranoid. This is an excellent novel and I hope the characters continue on in a new adventure for us to read.

Shockingly fun book By Team Lewis Sharon Woods Hopkins has brought to life the wonderfully sassy and smart , Rhetta MCarter in her debut novel, KillerWatt. McCarter, a woman working in the mortgage industry finds herself with evidence of a terrorist plot after a customer winds up dead shortly after a refinance. The Police, the Feds, and even her husband refuse to believe her. Only Woody, a coworker and former Marine is willing to help her stop the terrorist and thwart their plans to cripple the nation.Killerwatt is as fun and fast-paced as riding around in McCarter's '79 Camero with the top down. Well-rounded characters and great writing make the frighteningly real terrorist scenario come to life.

She's spunky, smart, determined and opinionated - everything a reader wants in a leading lady and amateur sleuth. The book is set in Missouri and painted with such care you'll feel like you're zooming along the back roads, riding shotgun in Rhetta's prize Camaro. I'm looking forward to the next one in this series and seeing more of Rhetta, her charming husband, and the other folks populating this exciting read.
