Review “Carl Barks... was probably the best artist and writer working in the entire field of comics. ... Ingenious, clever, and funny, the Barks Duck Books... are as readable and immediate to me as an adult as they were when I first discovered them as a child.” (Jeff Smith (Bone, RASL) - Mental Floss)
About the Author Carl Barks (1901-2000) spent most of his life in Oregon. In 1987, he was one of the three inaugural inductees in the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame (along with Eisner and Jack Kirby). He's also a Disney Legend.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. amazing! By arunan The only problem with Bark's Duck stories is that they are SO good that all other Duck comics are pretty disappointing by comparison! Uncle Scrooge has always been my favorite, as he travels the world in search of ever more riches, or fights lunatic criminals to save his money! Adventure, adventure, adventure...and lots of humor. Indiana Jones has nothing on Uncle Scrooge (I mean that literally-the title story in "The Seven Cities of Gold" inspired the most famous scene in "Raiders!" I've been reading comics since the early 80's and I'd put Barks's work up there with the best of Miller, Bendis or Millar. (I'd give Allan Moore the edge by a hair, but it's damn close!) My teenage daughter has donated everything from her younger days to my 2nd grade class, but she flat-out refused to part with these, so I had to buy another copy for the class.

A number of these stories were familiar to me, as they showed up in Ducktales.I'm a fan of the one pagers, the short stories, and the long ones. This is a nice variety of types. That poor guy at the cafe that Scrooge keeps pulling one over.It is interesting how Carl Barks really did sympathize with the natives that are encountered. Very insightful. The information on Carl Barks is quite interesting as well. Amazing that his fans tracked him down.
