The X-Men have failed in their every attempt to unseat Apocalypse from his throne. The dream of Charles Xavier is dead. This is the world that Doug Ramsey has grown up in. Wells Collecting: Age of Apocalypse (2015) #1-5With a number of "Age of Apocalypse" titles and a movie things can get a little confusing. This volume collects the Battleworld "Age of Apocalypse" that sprung from the Secret Wars event. Battleworld is a patchwork planet composed of continents from across the former multiverse. The Age of Apocalypse alternate universe where Apocalypse succeeds in his quest to persecute humans and remake the world in his corrupt vision of a "survival of the fittest" ideal returns in this collection with overall great success. The plot revolves around the X-Men (led by Magneto) fighting the Elite Mutant Force (led by Cyclops) over Doug Ramsey (the New Mutant known as Cypher) and a race through the human ghetto for a weapon that could truly cause the end of the world. Writer Fabian Nicieza uses Doug at the center to narrate the volume which effectively brings a personal first-person experience to the account. The use of Cypher as the narrator "humanizes" the superheroic action, and I found that it made the whole volume simply that much more compelling to read. Loved it.The artwork provided by Gerardo Sandoval (#1-3) and Iban Coello (#4-5) was also a pleasure to see. Each artist was inspired by the lines and proportion from the original Age of Apocalypse (see X-Men: The Age of Apocalypse Omnibus (Marvel Omnibus)) while also bringing their own style to the page.I almost removed one star from this 5-star collection because I found the ending simply unsatisfying. Up until the last page the book was simply amazing. But the way the conflict was resolved seems disingenuous for an X-Men title. I wont spoil this collection for you, so you'll have to read for yourself.

No By Zachary Tilley I loved AoA the original...was excited for this...seemed very rushed, plus half the pages I couldn't even read cuz the kindle doesn't allow me to enlarge some pages(idk if its my fire, the digital content,or what)...and the end was really dumb. Not worth the money...and I have NEVER said that about a x-title. ....hell no.
