- Oscar Award-winning writer/director and Django creator Quentin Tarantino teams with Eisner Award-winning comic book creator Matt Wagner to write the official Django Unchained sequel, uniting the gun-blazing Western hero with the legendary swordsman of literature, film, and comics: Zorro!
- Set several years after the events of Django Unchained, Django again pursues evil men in his role as a bounty hunter. Taking to the roads of the American Southwest, he encounters the aged and sophisticated Diego de la Vega by sheer chance. Django is fascinated by this unusual character, the first wealthy white man he's met who seems totally unconcerned with the color of his skin... and who can hold his own in a fight. Django hires on as Diego's bodyguard, and is soon drawn into a fight to free the local indigenous people from brutal servitude. Learning much from the older man (as he did from King Schultz), he discovers that slavery isn’t exclusive to his people, as he even dons the mask of Zorro in their mission of mercy!

Quentin Tarantino clearly has an affinity for Zorro, and the masked avenger is good match for Tarantino’s own Django, a character who stands as a tribute to classic spaghetti western heroes. Matt Wagner and Tarantino were evidently on the same page … a bunch of pages, actually … when they concocted this story. The story concerns a fellow’s scheme to acquire all of the land in the territory of Arizona, in the hope it will one day become part of the United States. He anticipates a railroad line from Texas to California and wants to gouge the railroad for the land the rails will occupy. Zorro views this as an injustice, particularly since the bad guy treats Native Americans as slave labor. Django takes a break from bounty hunting to serve as Zorro’s bodyguard (this being an aging Zorro), thus teaming a master swordsman with a master gunfighter. The story delivers strong messages of brotherhood and equality, of equal justice and the iniquity of double standards that are based on race or nationality or social class or gender. It is a story of courage and grit and honor. But setting that aside, this is a fast-moving adventure story that benefits from stylish prose and surprising twists. And, of course, Tarantino’s own special sauce of violence. The art is nifty. It never gets in the way but it always helps tell the story. And some of the western landscapes are really striking.

Teaming up 2 very different (or maybe not so different) heroes By Paul Mastin If you've seen the movie Django Unchained and liked it, you'll love Django's continuing adventure as he meets up with Zorro in Django/Zorro. Quentin Tarantino teamed up with the writers and illustrators at Dynamite Entertainment to create a series of comics, compiled here in graphic novel form. Django has left the South and headed west, where he meets Diego de la Vega, a.k.a. Zorro, on the way to confront a bad dude in Arizona.Zorro's interested in the fraud perpetrated by the self-appointed Archduke of Arizona, and Django comes along for the ride. Djanog soon discovers the Archduke isn't much different from the slave owners he knew back in the South and begins to foment a bit of rebellion.I loved the way Tarantino and his collaborators emphasize the differences between Django and Zorro (class, choice of weapons, readiness to kill) while using their contrasting styles to work together. Fans will love the additional material included in this edition: cover art, commentaries from Tarantino and collaborator Matt Wagner, as well as the original script from the first comic. I doubt there are plans to make this into a movie, but Django/Zorro stands on its own as a worthy sequel to Django Unchained. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the complimentary electronic review copy!

Great action, and what a duo. OK, I admit I still haven’t watched Django, I know I should, but somehow I can’t get to it, so I don’t know anything about this guy. But Zorro, on the other hand, him I do know and this story is totally in his style. I’m guessing from Django’s side you’ll have all the gunfights and killing as Zorro prefers not to kill.I had a great time watching and reading how Diego gets rid of some idiots who think they can mess with him just because he’s wearing fancy and colorful clothes in this boring, dominated by brown and beige world. It seemed like Django had just as much fun :). I’m kind of surprised how these two came together and basically showed each other their secrets. Maybe I wanted them to hide more, but then again it worked out for them quite nicely.I rather enjoyed the drawing style. I admit, I’m not an expert with graphic novels, but this one looks like one of the old-style superhero ones. It fits perfectly with the Zorro theme.Ooooh and the extras… the original script and all the single issue covers! Awesome! I have to admit, I like Dynamite comics. They did publish some of the great ones :).read it all here: https://maginibooks.wordpress.com/2015/11/13/with-gun-and-sword/
