This book has remained consitently excellent from Jump Street! Every volume is amazing & Volume 8 continues the streak. The Decepticon Justice Division gets the spotlight here as they deal with the aftermath of Megatron's recent decision (don't want to spoil anything). Just amazing amazing stuff from a creative team that is firing on all cylinders. Please do yourself a favor & check out this series. It's absolutely worth the investment of both time and money. Highest possible recommendation as always for MTMTE.

Greenagel Jr. This collection is a bit of a fall-off from previous volumes, especially from the absolutely brilliant heights of volume 7. Megatron continues to be a compelling read, while other characters such as Skids, Cyclonus, Rodimus and Perceptor continue to add to the story because of their wonderful character development and consistency. This volume is a transition volume, without an overarching storyline. There are a few silly tales, which are fine, but again, a disappointment after the crazy good work from previous volumes.I am looking forward to volume 8 though.

This book on how to draw manga provided him with the guidelines on proportions, style, shapes, and key features to make his artwork look like manga characters. The bonus chapter on Dragon Ball Z excited him so much that he is trying to perfect it. The written directions and visual examples are good for beginners like him.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. How to draw Manga - Short & Sweet By Elvin Howard This is a beginners’ book. I never thought that drawing would be this easy before reading this book. I have learnt to draw different characters also (other than Manga) just by modifying here and there. I especially liked the “How to draw mouth & nose” chapter as it clearly portrays how to draw microexpressions for different emotions. As I am an ardent fan of learning and applying “Body Language” along with “Microexpressions”, this chapter really was a game-changer for me. My suggestion for anyone who reads this book would be - start reading this book with a pencil and a paper. Start drawing right from chapter one. Apply what you learn. Modify slightly and see how your character shapes up differently. It is really a thrill to create characters on your own.My second favourite chapter is “How to draw male characters.” All these days, I used to try for umpteen times to sketch every super-hero as possible without success. The outlines, measurements and proportions taught in this book really blew me away. It made me realize how simple drawing really is. All that you need to learn are only the first few basic precautions which are taught lucidly and persuasively in this book. It would have been better if even more skeletal opening drawings were given. Would have been really great if step-by-step drawings were added to all the depicted figures. Hope an update to this ebook with more opening skeletal framework drawings is on the anvil.

She only just tries to draw them based on what she’s seen on TV every time she watches them. So, when I got this book I gave this as present to her and she loved it and enjoyed every bit of this drawing tutorial. She is now able to draw in full detail of her anime creations. Indeed, this book is chock full of techniques used that will help the reader take their skills to a new level. It teaches all the basics of drawing as well as offering tips to develop your drawings into imaginative artworks of a highly polished standard. Overall, this is a very good self help and how to book. I recommend this to anyone who wants and is interested in drawing anime.

She's ten and not much of a reader, so if she shows any interest in a subject I like to get her books about it because if she likes it, she'll read it. Also I enjoy reading anything about Dr. Who. I had purchased the fiftieth anniversary Annual in the past and we both loved it so I decided to get this one. I'm glad I did. While, I do think the book is written with a younger audience in mind, that doesn't mean I can't enjoy it. I don't know if maybe some people would think this is too childish, but I certainly didn't. Maybe I'm just a big kid!!! It has plenty of information and stories as well as fun little games like "spot the difference or mazes. This isn't a book that you will read once and never pick up again. It has a lot of information and a lot of fun activities packed into it's thin frame. I'm happy I purchased it.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. they are lean and fun, more kid oriented By Amazon Customer I buy these every year, they are lean and fun, more kid oriented. But the version I received was much much smaller than all the other annuals -- so it looks funny on my shelf -- is this a one off size? did I buy the wrong version? why wasn't the smaller size mentioned?

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Divided is a twist on the usual heart transplant love stories/movies I've seen over the years By sam123 Divided is a twist on the usual heart transplant love stories/movies I've seen over the years. This is not a simple New Adult love story, though. It is so much more - this is a futuristic, supernatural novel. I don't think I've read a New Adult novel like this before and I found it quite intriguing. Mishca's heart transplant sets everything into motion, but it's not the heart of the real plot of the story, which is revealed later on. I knew there was a supernatural element to the story, but couldn't tell exactly what form it would take. I mean I thought ghosts were involved, but that wasn't the case haha. This is one of those novels you can't write too much about the plot or you will give away the story. You just have to read it for yourself. I feel the author could have been more descriptive. I had no idea what CRE stood for until it was mentioned again in the book. It was kind of confusing. Also, the transition between one chapter to another could have been better. Sometimes a couple of months would pass by and you wouldn't know it until the main character mentioned it out of nowhere. I didn't even realize a couple of months in the story passed until a lot later! Anyway, I found the plot intriguing and will continue to read the series. I wonder what the story is with Ryder and Neissa, Mishca's best friend. Their back story is yet to be revealed. I'm sure they have a supernatural thing going on as well.

By K Orion Fray There are two kinds of books, when it comes to characters staying with you after the final page: the ones who wrap themselves so deeply into your brain you’d swear that just for a moment, they were real…and the ones who are stuck there as your brain keeps trying desperately to figure out what the hell just happened.DIVIDED is 100% in the second category.I love the premise–it’s one of the reasons I picked up the ARC from NetGalley to read. Mishca Richardson is a young woman in need of a heart transplant, made more difficult by the fact that Mishca was adopted, and in a way that keeps any biological information about her and her birth family rather hidden. In the early pages of the book, Mishca receives word she’s gotten a transplant match and is rushed off to the hospital–where everything starts getting strange. The beginning is excellent. The new heart seems to have given Mishca superpowers: she’s super fast, incredibly strong, and has an internal voice with the instincts of a super soldier. Add in an attractive young man in the shape of Ryder Madson, and you have all the trappings of a lovely story. But that’s were the book starts falling apart.I won’t go into details for fear of spoilers, but my overwhelming feeling is that there are too many plot lines going on at once. If we’d stayed with just Mishca and her super-heart trying to balance the oddity of her existence with wanting a normal relationship, I would have enjoyed it more. But we get a side plot with Mishca’s heart, a side plot for Ryder, one for his roommates, and so by the end for the big reveal on Mishca’s main story, I was so confused by everything else that I’d run out of suspension of disbelief. Add on that it blatantly ran up to a sequel, and I couldn’t manage to be impressed. I was just lost. Also, as is so often the case, Ryder and Mishca’s relationship moves WAY too fast. Given that Mishca is written to be someone who’s never had a relationship before, has no basis for any of that, and has been a bit shy for most of her life, I can identify very strongly with that–though I’ve never needed a heart transplant. So speaking as someone who’s been somewhat in her shoes, it all seems a bit much to believe. However, this isn’t specific to this book, so it’s more a frustration with the genre.I edged it up to a three-star review because while I wasn’t overly impressed, it was relatively well-written, and I did enjoy Mishca and Ryder. I’d be interested in seeing how the myriad plot lines pan out–though I may wait until I can borrow it somewhere, given how small my book buying budget is.Overall, this is a cute little NA romance with good potential, if a bit buried.Rating: *** (Worth a Look)

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Loved it. By Luna ***This book was provided to Nerd Girl in exchange for an honest review.***(Warning some spoilers.)Mishca is a teenager who, all of her life, has been sheltered by her adoptive parents due to a heart defect that requires a heart transplant. Finally, at the end of her senior year, she finds out that she has a heart, but what she doesn’t know if that her life will never be the same. When I first started reading this book I didn’t think that it was in the paranormal realm, but I was surprised and happy to find out that it was. As an avid reader of the paranormal this book was right up my alley. I would also like to say that as a reader who is not a big fan of first person POV, I found that the author used first person quite well. It was easy to follow her thoughts and transition into her many nightmares.I do not want to give away the book, but I did not see this plot twist coming. When Mishca started to struggle with her new powers (or abnormalities) I immediately thought about super hero, and I wasn’t alone. But after everything she has gone through I was excited to find out that Ryder ( pretty much the love of her life) has abilities of his own and I hope that will make her feel like less of an outcast as the series progresses. The author, in my opinion, did a great job or growing the characters especially Mishca and Ryder. Ryder is such a loving person and he is so proper that you can’t help but adore him. I see him as more British then Australian in my mind. Mishca is so confused and allows a lot of guilt to guide her actions, but she always manages to find a way to do the right thing. She also cares very deeply about those that are close to her. I don’t quite know what Sophitia is up to, but I’m sure it is nothing good and I still don’t like her.I think one of the few things that I did not like about the book was bringing in Colin. The book was a pretty good length and I just felt like he was thrown in for no other reason than to show that something was not quite right with Mishca’s birth. She has enough problems going on in her life without throwing a wedge between her and Ryder. We are already left with the big secret, that he may not forgive her for keeping, to keep us on our toes about their relationship. It was also just a little bit skeevy to me because the age gap was pretty substantial at their ages. I guess I just wasn’t a fan of this part.In the end I really enjoyed reading this book, but my heart contracted in pain when I realized we wouldn’t be getting all of our answers at the end of the book. Sorry folks, it is a series! And sadly we will have to wait for Shattered to come out. I will be waiting with baited breath, but not very patiently.

‘Miss Bowen’s work is of the exceptional class’ - The Scotsman Paris is gripped by a series of gruesome murders — young and fashionable ladies suddenly become rich, dry-eyed widows. Then a chance remark at a dinner party puts the police on the track of a strange and deadly poison. The trail leads to a ring of Satanists, many of them high-ranking members of the French aristocracy. Behind the brilliant façade of Louis XIV’s flamboyant court at Versailles, the poisoners perform their scandalous rituals: Black Masses in fetid cellars, macabre killings — even the sacrifice of new-born babies. The Sun King himself is in deadly danger, completely unaware that one of his mistresses may be furtively plotting his assassination…

Praise for Marjorie Bowen

‘A book remarkable alike for its vividness and for its historical perspective’ - Daily Express ‘… one of the most novel features of Miss Bowen’s book is the care she takes to see the point of view of Mary’s lovers. She makes a plausible case for Bothwell and even joins the very select band of those who have something good to say for Darnley’ - Times Literary Supplement ‘Fresh, vivid, exciting and enthralling … This is a fine book’ - The Sphere ‘A book in every way worthwhile … as an individual contribution to the subject, Miss Bowen’s work is of the exceptional class’ - The Scotman Marjorie Bowen was born in 1885 and often wrote under the pseudonym Margaret Gabrielle Vere Campbell Long. She was one of Britain’s most prolific authors of the twentieth century. Writing was more than just a hobby: her works were the primary source of financial support for her family. Between 1906 and her death in 1952, Bowen wrote over 150 books, garnering much acclaim for her popular histories and historical and Gothic romances. Alongside masterful descriptions and concise, efficient prose, she deftly rendered larger-than-life subjects in the minds of her readers. To this day, aficionados of the genres covet Bowen’s work. Her other titles include The Sword Decided, Mary Queen of Scots, The Queen’s Caprice, The Governor of England, Mistress Nell Gwynn and Dickon.
