By Rebecca Martin Kind of misleading with the book title, not very time consuming, lots of Zombies for sure, but the artwork is similar to what you would find in the kids section at the dollar store. Attaching a few examples of what you will find in the book.

Ruby Milk (Penny Wade Mysteries Book 1), by Lucy English

Review 5 stars! I was sucked into Ruby Milk after the first few pages. Lucy English has a talent for capturing a situation in just a few words. I have never been to Boston, but I found myself picturing the scenes subconsciously. On occasion, I felt as if I was trotting along beside Penny as one of her friends. Lucy English has written a great book. Ruby Milk has all that is needed in a mystery novel: family intrigue, hidden riches, mysterious deaths, lust and greed. Lucy English is a new author and I look forward to her next book.-Reviewed By Mike Dixon for Readers' Favorite

I was pleasantly surprised to find it was so good. It was an excellent book. I loved the way Lucy English wrote and developed her characters. I loved that Penny was so confused and unsure yet,, without hesitation, went into some serious situations to help Dani.Penny is a social worker at the Community Counseling Services in Boston. She had been burned out in Juvenile services and changed her focus. However, she was finding it hard to counsel her clients. She really wanted to help them; but they really didn’t want help but were forced to go to talk to her. Her love life was non-existent and she was barely able to pay her portion of the rent and eat. She loved her roommate, Gloria, and the cozy apartment. Her life began to change when she was given a new client.Dani Martin was to talk to Penny. Dani, 16, had just lost her other and was distraught. She wasn’t distraught only over her Mother’s death; but the fact that no one would listen to her claim that her Mother had been murdered. Dani didn’t want to stay with her Uncle Dob Nayak and his wife; but her Father was in Philadelphia with his new family and she didn’t want to go there either. She wanted to find her Mother’s murderer and couldn’t leave Boston. Penny, who should have discouraged her, decided to help her find answers. However, Penny, like the others, really thought Anita, Dani’s Mother, had simply had a severe allergic reaction to something and died.Who would want a single mother who designed jewelry dead? Were the police right and it was a tragic accident, or was she killed? Could Penny balance her job, her aunt’s death, cleaning out her Mother’s home, face her sister Sarah’s death from long ago, and help Dani? It is an excellent book.

By Wendy R Pugnacious social worker Penny Wade makes her sleuthing debut in this absorbing new mystery by Lucy English. Ruby Milk finds Penny plunging headlong into danger to save her engaging teen client, Dani Martin, from the treacherous adults who surround the teen following the suspicious death of the girl’s mother.Penny leads us on a fast-paced journey into the Indian gem trade, via the streets of historic Boston, where she not only seeks a murderer, but also stumbles through her love life, wrestles with a painful past, and frequently seeks the sanctuary and advice of her circle of good friends, who are all quite entertaining themselves.English really has created a captivating heroine in Penny Wade, who proves to be as feisty and resourceful on the job as she is vulnerable and wounded in her private life. She’s no stranger to heartbreak or trouble, and she’s a fierce advocate for the innocent. Readers will find themselves pushing and punching right along with Penny as she fights for justice in this whirlwind of a novel.Ruby Milk charmingly draws its title from a bit of Indian folklore, found deep in the heart of the story, which winds its way to its conclusion without ever stopping to take a breath. And check this out- as an added bonus, the author offers readers an expanded experience by inviting us to follow some of Penny Wade’s interesting friends on Pinterest. It’s a great way to stay connected while waiting for the next installment to come out. I normally am not a mystery reader, but the Penny Wade Mysteries definitely have me hooked. I strongly recommend this book.

I love Snoopy, he is truly an American icon. We continue to watch The Peanuts Gang from their Great Pumpkin, to their Christmas show. They are a staple in our holiday. Now with the a new movie on the big screen, Snoopy is popular once again. The history is rich and great for myself and the kids to learn more about this beagle. I love the 'extra's that they have included from drawings, to bookmarks and bumper stickers. Great memorabilia to share or keep! For any new or old Snoopy collector, this is the perfect gift! Very detailed biography of one of the best!I did receive a copy of this book in exchange for a review.

From the title, I thought it was a romance novel. This was my first Mills novel and I was very pleasantly surprised. The author really knows the southwest Florida area and history --which is woven throughout the story. For those living in the area or vacationing, this novel is a great way to learn about restaurants, Indian mounds, pirates, fishing, and more of the colorful Florida past and present. Mills knowledge of law is obvious, but he adds legal details with humor (a judge performing "legal liposuction" on an attorney--- chewing his a** out). No boring multiple page legalese explanations! The legal thriller was fast paced through much of the book. At first the main character, Beth, is feeling a little dowdy next to Karen, the trophy wife (and her divorce client). Soon Beth finds that Karen has much more than looks going for her and they become friends. Stan, Karen's husband, is a dentist turned mega millionaire. He is pompous, angry, and definitely not going to give his soon-to-be ex-wife millions after she cheated on him. When there is an unexpected delay in the divorce case, Karen invites Beth to her island vacation cottage for a girls' weekend. An intruder and more family secrets are exposed. The book ends with an unexpected twist. I've read 2 Mills novels in a bit more than a week and an am ordering a 3rd today. I am definitely a fan!

The story of one of America's most notorious killers is revealed in this true-crime comic unlike any other!Throughout the 1980s, the highest priority of Seattle-area police was the apprehension of the Green River Killer, the man responsible for the murders of dozens of women. In 1990, with the body count numbering at least forty-eight, the case was put in the hands of a single detective, Tom Jensen. After twenty years, when the killer was finally captured with the help of DNA technology, Jensen spent 180 days interviewing Gary Leon Ridgway in an effort to learn his most closely held secrets--an epic confrontation with evil that proved as disturbing and surreal as can be imagined.Written by Jensen's own son, acclaimed entertainment writer Jeff Jensen, Green River Killer: A True Detective Story presents the ultimate insider's account of America's most prolific serial killer.Praise for a previous edition of Green River Killer:"The story Jeff Jensen has to tell about Tom Jensen's pursuit of the Green River Killer, with its artful shifts back and forth in time, operates on two levels: as a spellbinding true-crime story and as a son's deep, loving appreciation of his father's life, work, and code of honor. I finished this book feeling as though I'd read a relentless thriller and a moving memoir: two gifts in one." -Ken Tucker, Entertainment Weekly "Terrific. It's got the scariest opening sequence I've read in years, and the novel as a whole makes compelling stay-up-late reading. Great, creepy stuff." -Stephen King

I am almost done with it and am finding it very interesting. I never heard of this serial killer and living in Montana, so close, find it very fascinating! Recommend this book for everyone!

Excellent By A Voracious Reader *Book source ~ LibraryJeff Jensen, son of Detective Tom Jensen, tells the story in graphic novel form of the decades long hunt and arrest of the infamous Green River Killer.I’ve heard of the Green River Killer over the years, but I never delved into the background. Sad considering I earned an Associates in Applied Science in Criminal Justice. I’m bad and ashamed. *hangs head* Anyway, this is a great telling of how things went down. Using flashbacks between 2003 and the 80s (mostly), it gives a lot of detail without going overboard, so I got the gist and can read further in other books if I wish. The illustrations are in black and white and they’re consistent and pretty good. I recommend this for any fan of true crime, serial killers and/or graphic novels.

The description says graphic novel but you have to interpret that to mean illustrations - ALL illustrations. I think Amazon should make this more clear. Oh well, live and learn.

Em just wants to finish up this assignment, get paid, and head back to her home in Maine.

But a chance sighting finds them aboard a "ghost sailboat". The salon is set neatly for supper, wine in the glasses, pots on the stove, bread on the table and not a soul aboard. Worse, she knows this boat. When a black cat slinks noiselessly around her feet, Em’s alarm hikes up to horror. Has someone purposely set this boat out here? Is it a warning? To her? Finding this boat plunges Em into a decades old mystery that threatens not only her, but her entire family.

The Bitter End, is the second book in the highly acclaimed Em Ridge Mystery Series which began with Night Watch. The adventure continues for widowed boat captain, Em Ridge.

The Bitter End (Em Ridge Mystery Series Book 2), by Linda Hall

About the Author Linda Hall spent the early years of her writing career as a journalist and freelance writer. She also worked in the field of adult literacy and wrote curriculum materials for adults reading at basic reading levels. In 1990 Linda decided to do something she’d always dreamed of doing, she began working on her first novel. The book she wrote, The Josiah Files was published in 1992. Since that time she’s written twenty-one more mystery and suspense novels and many short stories and essays. Most of her novels have something to do with the sea. Linda grew up in New Jersey and her love of the ocean was born there. When she was a little girl Linda remembers sitting on the shore and watching the waves and contemplating what was beyond. She could do that for hours. Linda has roots in two countries. In 1971, she married a Canadian who loves the water just as much as she does. They moved to Canada and have lived there ever since. One of the things they enjoy is sailing. In the summer they basically move aboard their 34’ sailboat, aptly named - Mystery. Both Linda’s husband Rik and Linda have achieved the rank of Senior Navigator, the highest rank possible in CPS. The U.S. sister organization is the U.S.P.S. Linda’s Senior Navigator diploma hangs proudly on her office wall. What this all means is that she knows how to use a sextant and can ‘theoretically’ find her way home by looking at the stars. Rik and Linda have two grown children, seven grandchildren and one very spoiled cat.

Not a Single Dull Moment By Jim Davis Having read and enjoyed the first book in this series, I eagerly awaited the release of the next book and immediately purchased a copy upon its release. This second story in the series did not disappoint. I really like, Em Ridge, the main character. Em Ridge is a boat captain who comes across as authentic and believable. This mystery has plenty of twists and turns to delight even the most discerning mystery lover. The story begins in the Bermuda Triangle. After an abandoned sailboat is found, a mystery compounds upon another mystery, which begins to unfold about Em's uncle, a man Em adored, but apparently did not know as well as she previously thought in her younger years. When Em sets out to find out what happened to her missing uncle, she learns he and a female friend of Em's had a bit of a history neither had mentioned to her previously. What else was he hiding, a murder, stolen money? This story is fast paced and held my attention from the first paragraph until the last sentence. I read the story in one day, basically, because I could not put it down for long.I loved both books in this series, but The Bitter End was my favorite of the two stories. Probably because I felt like I already knew the main character from reading the first book. I am looking forward to reading more stories about this highly skilled and intelligent female boat captain, who is a survivor in the most dire circumstances.I highly recommend The Bitter End and now eagerly look forward to the third book in this series. An excellent writing style and compelling stories make for enjoyable reads. This author has moved up to the top tier level of my favorite authors.

In other words, she’ll follow rich people around the oceans and deliver their sailing yachts to them because they want to get from point A to B faster. In the first book in this series, she had just lost her husband but still managed to solve a mystery. Fate gives her another blow by involving her in a new mystery related to an uncle’s disappearance. Here we go again. Ready for a fun ride? Sailing we will go.Sequels are always suspect. First, there’s the question of whether the book can stand alone. This one does, and it does it very well. There’s enough back story to bring the reader quickly up-to-date. A few characters are the same—Em, of course, her cop friend, her old neighbors, and so forth, persons who are almost part of that Maine landscape, and the author does a good job of describing them anew without belaboring the point. A new protagonist, Em’s uncle Ferd (short for Ferdinand), is mostly absent except for back story, but he plays the important role of a potential victim. He’s also accused of murder, but maybe he’s really dead, and Em stubbornly pursues the case, even over the protests of her sage but conflicted cop friend.Like the first book in the series, the characters here are complex, so much so that many can be considered persons of interest as Em struggles to prove her uncle’s innocence and discover whether he’s still alive. Because this is written in first person, the reader shares all her doubts and suspicions and will experience directly the clues as they are found. The author throws in enough misdirects to satisfy any reader of mysteries, though, confusing Em as well. (I was able to guess most of the story before long, but maybe I have an unfair advantage—I write mysteries too.) This book is probably better than the first, so that failure of some sequels is also avoided. In fact, it’s a first-rate mystery with great plot, characters, and settings. The visit to the scene of the crime deep in the heart of Pennsylvania is a wee bit unusual. Em is most comfortable on a boat, while the people in the Pennsylvania town are mostly clueless about sailing. It’s almost like first contact between Terrans and ETs! (I’ve also experienced some of that in Pennsylvania, a microcosm of the U.S. with big cities Pittsburgh and Philadelphia and a lot of rural Americana in between.) Otherwise, most of the novel occurs on and around the ocean, from Bermuda to Maine. The meaning of the title is explained at the beginning of the novel—it’s a sailing term—but any lover of the sea and sailing will smile at Hall’s authentic portrayals of action on the water.I was expecting more about the Bermuda Triangle. It really plays a minor role, although it provides a bit of strangeness at the beginning of the novel. That’s where Ferd disappears, and Em finds his empty boat with only his cat Bear on board. I also thought her temporary employer, the reality star and her reason for being there, would play more of a role, but he doesn’t. Count these things as misdirects too, I guess. The first adds eeriness; the second a bit of comedy (the reality show is about conspiracy theories).Hall’s action scenes are good and add thrills to this mystery, which also has plenty of suspense. I would have spent more pages on the final confrontation with the killer, though. The earlier confrontation with his associate gets more attention. It seemed like the author was in a rush to finish. While many details aren’t learned until the end, reminding me of those old Agatha Christie tales where everyone gathers around and hears Miss Marple or Poirot explain what happened, the denouement doesn’t contain any cliffhangers. The next Em book will have to be a fresh story, always a good thing—I’m looking forward to it.The Christie remembrance is fitting for another reason. Besides the importance of family, there really aren’t earth-shaking themes here. And the real lesson is that events many years in your past, even ones unknown to you, can come back and haunt you. So there’s a lot of old classical mystery flavor in this novel. It also leaves you thinking: what stories about your old relatives are true? All of the genealogical databases in the world would have trouble answering that question, so Em’s confusion about memories of her uncle not matching those of others in her circle of family and friends are probably not rare even in the real world. In this book, that only adds to the intrigue.(The reviewer received a free .mobi file of this book in return for an honest review.)

When Em, a boat captain, accepts a job with “Papa” for twelve days, transporting him all over the area in her boat for a documentary, they come upon an abandoned sailboat with a tear in its mast and no one on board. After finding a cat on board, alone, and then realizing it’s her uncle’s boat, Em begins a desperate search for her favorite uncle. The trouble was, no one else was looking for him. The other relatives and friends thought she was crazy and even her mom didn’t really believe that he was missing. Most of them thought he was just in debt and ran away, implying to Em that she didn’t really know her Uncle Ferd. But Em wouldn’t give up. While searching, Em’s uncle is accused of murder and of stealing thousands of dollars. Along the way of looking for Uncle Ferd, Em came across two old girlfriends, a gun-toting muscle man who wouldn’t quit following and shooting at her, a few people who the police said were dead, an abused young wife, and [something I’ll keep secret].I was literally stumped through the book until the end, and I can usually figure out a mystery puzzle fairly quickly. I loved trying to figure out the pieces of the puzzle as I read and tried to figure out the riddles. There was a lot of action too, without seeming too far-fetched. There were a few smiles and laughs too, like this one, after Em pushes a bad guys off her boat: “Can you swim?” I called to him over the wind. “No.” He came up sputtering. “Well,” I called, “good thing you’re wearing a life jacket then . . .”I liked that there was a hint of a “wanna be” romance: “I would need to be more careful in the future about where I placed my heart.” I could tell that the author loved being on the water and that made the story all the more credible. The author has a knack for creating characters that are likeable and characters who I can care about. I was really cheering Em on and I felt like I really got to know Uncle Ferd how Em saw him. The Bitter End was a very entertaining story.“Ahead of us, the sun sparkled on the water like scattered sequins.”

The collection has classic strips by Charles Shulz and new stories from the folks at kaboom. At first I was wary of reading the new content, but most of the stories have that familiar spirit and feel of the original Peanuts gang, and that is indeed a good thing. It is a bit odd to see the strips drawn with a slightly more stylized and 3D look, but that just gives you a nice reminder that you are reading one of the new stories. All of the stories are in color and the pages are thick and glossy, so it should be able to withstand a little wear and tear from younger Peanuts fans. The end of the book contains a cover gallery from the comics the issue collects, as well as some first appearances from the original Peanuts strip. If you would like to spend some quality time with Charlie Brown and friends, I’d suggest grabbing this series. Enjoy!

  • Oscar Award-winning writer/director and Django creator Quentin Tarantino teams with Eisner Award-winning comic book creator Matt Wagner to write the official Django Unchained sequel, uniting the gun-blazing Western hero with the legendary swordsman of literature, film, and comics: Zorro!
  • Set several years after the events of Django Unchained, Django again pursues evil men in his role as a bounty hunter. Taking to the roads of the American Southwest, he encounters the aged and sophisticated Diego de la Vega by sheer chance. Django is fascinated by this unusual character, the first wealthy white man he's met who seems totally unconcerned with the color of his skin... and who can hold his own in a fight. Django hires on as Diego's bodyguard, and is soon drawn into a fight to free the local indigenous people from brutal servitude. Learning much from the older man (as he did from King Schultz), he discovers that slavery isn’t exclusive to his people, as he even dons the mask of Zorro in their mission of mercy!

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Strong crossover By Alt I’m not a big fan of crossovers but this one is more natural than most. Quentin Tarantino clearly has an affinity for Zorro, and the masked avenger is good match for Tarantino’s own Django, a character who stands as a tribute to classic spaghetti western heroes. Matt Wagner and Tarantino were evidently on the same page … a bunch of pages, actually … when they concocted this story. The story concerns a fellow’s scheme to acquire all of the land in the territory of Arizona, in the hope it will one day become part of the United States. He anticipates a railroad line from Texas to California and wants to gouge the railroad for the land the rails will occupy. Zorro views this as an injustice, particularly since the bad guy treats Native Americans as slave labor. Django takes a break from bounty hunting to serve as Zorro’s bodyguard (this being an aging Zorro), thus teaming a master swordsman with a master gunfighter. The story delivers strong messages of brotherhood and equality, of equal justice and the iniquity of double standards that are based on race or nationality or social class or gender. It is a story of courage and grit and honor. But setting that aside, this is a fast-moving adventure story that benefits from stylish prose and surprising twists. And, of course, Tarantino’s own special sauce of violence. The art is nifty. It never gets in the way but it always helps tell the story. And some of the western landscapes are really striking.

Teaming up 2 very different (or maybe not so different) heroes By Paul Mastin If you've seen the movie Django Unchained and liked it, you'll love Django's continuing adventure as he meets up with Zorro in Django/Zorro. Quentin Tarantino teamed up with the writers and illustrators at Dynamite Entertainment to create a series of comics, compiled here in graphic novel form. Django has left the South and headed west, where he meets Diego de la Vega, a.k.a. Zorro, on the way to confront a bad dude in Arizona.Zorro's interested in the fraud perpetrated by the self-appointed Archduke of Arizona, and Django comes along for the ride. Djanog soon discovers the Archduke isn't much different from the slave owners he knew back in the South and begins to foment a bit of rebellion.I loved the way Tarantino and his collaborators emphasize the differences between Django and Zorro (class, choice of weapons, readiness to kill) while using their contrasting styles to work together. Fans will love the additional material included in this edition: cover art, commentaries from Tarantino and collaborator Matt Wagner, as well as the original script from the first comic. I doubt there are plans to make this into a movie, but Django/Zorro stands on its own as a worthy sequel to Django Unchained. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the complimentary electronic review copy!

Great action, and what a duo. OK, I admit I still haven’t watched Django, I know I should, but somehow I can’t get to it, so I don’t know anything about this guy. But Zorro, on the other hand, him I do know and this story is totally in his style. I’m guessing from Django’s side you’ll have all the gunfights and killing as Zorro prefers not to kill.I had a great time watching and reading how Diego gets rid of some idiots who think they can mess with him just because he’s wearing fancy and colorful clothes in this boring, dominated by brown and beige world. It seemed like Django had just as much fun :). I’m kind of surprised how these two came together and basically showed each other their secrets. Maybe I wanted them to hide more, but then again it worked out for them quite nicely.I rather enjoyed the drawing style. I admit, I’m not an expert with graphic novels, but this one looks like one of the old-style superhero ones. It fits perfectly with the Zorro theme.Ooooh and the extras… the original script and all the single issue covers! Awesome! I have to admit, I like Dynamite comics. They did publish some of the great ones :).read it all here: https://maginibooks.wordpress.com/2015/11/13/with-gun-and-sword/

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Protection turns into love...Ruggero is mine! By Jennifer G. Reckoning (Blood & Series #4)By: Dana Delamar5/5 starsRuggero Vela has been one of my absolute favorite side characters in this series since book one. He has such a dry, witty and sarcastic sense of humor. I love the insight that he’s been able to give to not only Don Lucchesi, but also Nick & Antonia and even the women. I love his loyalty to the Lucchesi family cosca and the families within it. I love his fearless protection of Enrico & Kate. Even though he knows that he will more than likely die in the line of duty, he never balks to do what is asked of him.Judge Loredana Montisi is known to be an anti-mafia judge who is strict and deals out harsh punishments to those involved in the mafia. She has a very good reason to be incorruptible, unable to be bribed or paid off. Both of her parents were judges as well and had been attacked by mafia gunmen. Seeing Ruggero in her courtroom is more than a little disconcerting with his imposing presence, but she refuses to back down. Ruggero also likes that she is a strong woman who will not be bullied. But there are dark and sinister forces that are driving the Enrico Lucchesi case from behind the scenes. At the end of book 3, we saw Lorenzo making the calls to get Lucchesi arrested. But now, we learn why he did what he did and made the calls that he made. It all boils down to nothing but greed, for more money and more power. He has already proved in previous books that he’s going to do whatever it takes to accomplish his goals. So the judge’s life is in danger if she doesn’t fall for the frame of Enrico. There were several heart-stopping moments and times when you just didn’t know how and if everything could work out, while having all of the favorite characters come out on top. I also loved how this book ended and would definitely be interested in reading another book (or two) from this series. As per usual, the book was meticulously though-out, researched, planned & executed. Dana Delamar may have taken longer to release this book than she (and her fans) had expected, but she also didn’t stop until the book was flawless & perfect.

I have waited impatiently for this 4th book in the series to be released. It was so worth it! I gobbled it up the day it was released.....I went back a second time because I was afraid that I missed something. Just as good the second time. The characters are developed, honest, complex and HOT!! I stumbled upon the first first book when it was first released. I am thrilled that I did. I have become a loyal fan and wait in anticipation for future work from her. I have recommended this book as well as the 3 prior books to many people and none have been disappointed. Thank for sharing this fantastic work with us!

By MommanCali ** DISCLAIMER** I REECIEVED A COPY OF THIS BOOK IN EXCHANGE FOR A REVIEWI have been along for this ride since the beginning and all I can is WOW!!!Ruggero was one of my favorite character from the very beginning and I'm thrilled he finally got his chance at love. When you look up "rough around the edges" in the dictionary you will find a picture of Ruggero, that's him to a T! Dana smooths out some of his edges and gives her readers another look at him and he softens, slightly when Loredanna comes into his life. The spark between them is explosive despite the danger that is around them; when you have a STRICT and no nonsense judge and a Mafiso,, what could go wrong?! Right?!Ruggero and Loredanna's love sceens make the reader reach for a glass or water and beg to trade places with her. This book brings to "conclusion?" What has been brewing between all the families since the first book; you don't have to have read all of them, but trust me on this, you will want too if this is your first ride with these sexy Mafiso. The action scenes had me looking over my shoulder for hidden danger.Dana pulled me into this before unknown world of the MOB with her first book, Revenge and she has kept me there. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to be along for the ride and see these characters grow and make tough decisions and fight for what THEY believe in and for love that may or may not want to be loved. You cannot go wrong with Reckoning, well, only if you don't dive in and hold on tight.

You're Not Alone, by Stacy Eaton

Review "Stacy Eaton takes the difficult subject of domestic abuse and turns it into an emotional, romantic, suspense story full of hope" D Jamieson"Domestic violence is a subject that not too many authors are able to tackle with as much realism and assurance as Stacy Eaton. The characters are well shown, and the imagery of abuse is excellently portrayed." Diana M. Hockley"So well written to describe domestic violence and how deeply it impacts a woman's life. Thank you for telling the story so well I am not a victim but have worked with programs that help victims." Wanda Grimes

From the Author Domestic Violence is a major problem in our society. My purpose for writing stories that deal with domestic violence:**First to help people that have never been in an abusive relationship to understand there are many facets to it**Second is to hopefully reach out to victims and let them know that they arenot alone, and that they can have a life and freedom. My stories are written from experience. The emotions, pain and many of thethoughts and actions of my characters are from real life experiences. Some Reviews on my Domestic Violence Novels: Whether I'll Live or Die:"A realistic look at domesticviolence and the destruction it causes.""As a woman who was married to anabusive husband for 4 years, this book is right on target. It was soreal and accurate."Barbara's Plea:"Stacy Eaton has a way of writing about tough subjects that most peopleeither gloss over or simply skip altogether. She does not pretty it up;she just writes what needs to be said. Some parts are heart-wrenching,some anger-inducing. The book is extremely well written." "Writing about domestic violence is very hard to do, but to do so in such a realistic and awe-inspiringmanner takes a lot of skill and understanding of the topic."You're Not Alone:"Domestic violence is a subjectthat not too many authors are able to tackle with as much realism andassurance as Stacy Eaton. The characters are well shown, and the imagery of abuse is excellently portrayed.""So well written to describedomestic violence and how deeply it impacts a woman's life. Thank youfor telling the story so well I am not a victim but have worked withprograms that help victims."

About the Author Stacy Eaton began her writing career in October of 2010 and as each year goes by, she releases more and more novels. She is a police officer by profession and has been since 2000. She also has a son who is currently serving in the United States Navy. Stacy is very involved in Domestic Violence Awareness and currently serves on the Board of Directors for her local Domestic Violence Center. You're Not Alone is an emotional, inspiring story of a woman and a man, both of whom have survived abuse in their life By romancereader You're Not Alone is an emotional, inspiring story of a woman and a man, both of whom have survived abuse in their life, finding each other and finding happiness together. The author drew me into this book from the very first chapter - she teases the reader with the possibility of recognition between the Trinity and Gavin - and makes the reader NEED to read on. The story is fast-paced and I found myself wanting to read faster and faster as the story continues, needing to read at the pace of the story. The book is set ten years after Trinity's "situation" but we find out quickly that she still has a lot of healing left to do - and Gavin is the perfect person to help her through that. He's a sensitive, alpha hero who knows just how to approach Trinity in a way that puts her at ease and draws her in. He is sensitive to her triggers and her fears and helps her manage them.Trinity's abuse has resulted in a self-confidence problem and I love how the author demonstrates Trinity's self-esteem issues and the way that Gavin address them. He has to walk a tightrope of telling her how he feels and what he wants without scaring her away - considering how long he has had feelings for her.The book is written in alternating first person point-of-view, a hallmark of this author. Its a sensual romance but no specifics of intimacy scenes are included, instead left up to the imagination of the reader. But, I didn't find that I missed the details, because so much of a romance is the emotional connection the reader feels to the characters, and I felt that connection even without the specifics.

It was a real eye opener to what domestic violence is and what it can do to women. The author does a fantastic job of explaining the different types of violence and how it effects women in the story and yet make it a beautiful story about true love. When she explains how the main character, Trinity, gives her seminars on domestic violence it’s something all men and women need to hear. I wish we could give these seminars to all high school students. The premise of the book is Trinity is battered almost to death by her husband many years ago. The young rookie cop, Gavin, is the one who arrested her husband and carries her out to the ambulance. He sits in the trial as her husband is sentence 20 years for what he has done and always thinks about her and wonders how her life has turned out. Ten years later, he is at a seminar and she is giving a domestic violence training and they met up. From there they go out and slowly develop a beautiful relationship. This is the first time Trinity is able to date a man and it takes a while for her to trust a man again. Gavin is one man all women would like in their world. It also tells the story of the ups and downs of running a domestic violence shelter and the twist and turns of the relationship of Trinity and Gavin.I was given this book for an honest review and was happy to read it as I have been involved with a domestic violence shelter for many year. Ms. Eaton knows what she is talking about and has put it into a wonderful, beautiful story.

Writing about domestic abuse has got to be a tough thing to do, but experiencing it has got to be even tougher. Stacy Eaton blew me away, once again. She has officially yanked my heart out, stomped on it, and replaced it for the 100th time. And I'm pretty sure it won't be the last. I blew through this book like a full ranged tornado. Seriously, I couldn't put it down, I didn't WANT to put it down and I definitely didn't want it to end. Stacy started off with such a big bang that I knew from the start this book would be freaking fantastic. And it was so much more than that. I was left shaking and scared for Trinity's past at times. And left in love with her future/ present life. The emotion of these characters fly off the pages and into your heart. This was a truly heart stomping, life changing story that needed to be told. No matter if we want tp believe it or not, Abuse is something that happens every single day. And it's not always physical, but mental too.

When an immigrant Irish roofer plummets to his death from a South Boston building, lawyer Paul Forte steps in to settle the man’s presumably meager estate, as a favor to his friend, Dublin reporter Finola McGee. A routine probate matter, he thought, until he discovers the penthouse condo, the top-of-the-line Harley and credit card statements reflecting a fondness for Las Vegas. In Ireland, Finola’s human interest story about the tragedy prompts several Irish widows to inform her of similar accidents in the States. In each case, the laborers had been beneficiaries of CRAIC, an Irish “charity” run by ex-politician Finbarr Murphy; their lives had been insured for substantial amounts; and their widows did not receive what they were due. When insidious political forces (and a little blackmail) impel her editor to silence her, Finola smells another big story. She is convinced CRAIC is another word for scam. As Paul and Finola team up once again to plumb the depths of Irish treachery, secrets are divulged, privileges violated, punches thrown, loyalties shredded and bombs ignited; but it takes a meddling amateur to unmask the saboteur.

Half Irish, by Pete Morin, Susanne O'Leary

Review An entertaining and suspenseful romp through the Irish and American political system, FULL IRISH is a compulsively readable novel.  ~IndieReader

About the Author Pete Morin is a former politician, bureaucrat and lobbyist, now trial lawyer, blues guitarist and crime novelist. When he is not writing crime fiction or legal mumbo jumbo, Pete plays blues guitar in Boston bars, and on rare occasion, plays a round of golf or two. He lives in a money pit on the seacoast south of Boston, in an area once known as the Irish Riviera. Pete is represented by Christine Witthohn of Book Cents Literary Agency. Susanne O’Leary has been the wife of a diplomat (still is), a fitness teacher and a translator. She now writes full-time from either of two locations, a ramshackle house just outside Cahir, County Tipperary or a little cottage overlooking the Atlantic in Dingle, County Kerry. When she is not scaling the mountains of said counties, or keeps fit in the local gym, she writes books in a number of genres; contemporary romance, romantic comedy, historical fiction and, recently, detective. Many of her fifteen novels have been bestsellers.

By Don Sloan Murder, money and crooked lawyers all figure prominently in this excellent new mystery by co-authors Pete Morin and Suzanne O'Leary. It's one of the most well-written whodunits I've seen in quite a while. What do Dermot, Kieran and Sean have in common? Besides being Irish, and relatively new to America, they all died in mysterious circumstances at construction sites. And, their widows back in Ireland all got far less than their insurance policies paid out. Who's to blame, and who is profiting? The reader finds that out -- partially, at least -- early on.But proving it. Ah, there's the true brilliance of the story. This finely crafted tale plays out deliciously as Boston attorney Paul Forte teams up with Dublin journalist Finola McGee to unravel a twisted skein of deceit, lies and fraud leading to the much darker matter of willful murder. There are eligible suspects galore in the scheme that lures unemployed Irish laborers to the United States in search of lucrative jobs. But when one, then two, then three lads are killed at construction sites scattered around the U.S. -- well, it's just a bit too coincidental to suit Forte and McGee.Written by an attorney and an Irish national, respectively, this novel is packed with satisfying detail about American legal intricacies and a wealth of local color about Irish politics and chicanery. You'll soon be rooting for these painstaking investigators and their small but efficient cadre of assistants. And I love the outstanding dialogue and the enticing turns-of-phrase scattered throughout the book:"Rex's bushy eyebrows jumped around his forehead."And:"He was soft as a grape by then."Through Georgia's finest golf course fairways, Chicago's Merchandize Mart and a wild, Jerry Springer-type show in Dublin, the story winds toward its climax. But not before we are served another tasty literary bon mot:"Looks like Superman and Mother Teresa rolled into one."Five stars to this entertaining read. And, to mystery lovers everywhere, a new tag team of stellar investigators has emerged.

By M.A. Stanley I received this book for a free review and I enjoyed it so much that I immediately purchased the other two books in the series. Although this is a stand-alone novel, I’d highly recommend buying the books in order. (book 1: Diary of a Small Fish; book 2: Full Irish – both are available on Amazon)When attorney Paul Forte is asked to assist in a simple probate matter by his friend, Dublin reporter, Finola McGee, he agrees without hesitation. As he begins the process of documenting the dead man’s estate, he discovers a lifestyle that contradicts the widow’s statements of the man. The discovery of several other victims much like the dead man leads Paul and Finola into an investigation that spans from Boston to Ireland and involves murder, corruption and deceit.I admit that I am not a fan of novels with political overtones, but I found it refreshing that the author focused on the corruptive and corrosive nature of politicians and politics as a whole instead of invoking bipartisan blame which seems so prevalent in novels with any political content. This is a well thought out mystery with a fantastic plot and great characters. I thoroughly enjoyed it and as mentioned above, was spurred to purchase and read the other two books right away. This book was provided to me for free for an honest and unbiased review (see all our reviews at http://www.bookexplosions.com/ or on Goodreads at https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/131875-book-explosions )

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Half Irish By BigAl Once again, Boston attorney Paul Forte and Dublin reporter Finola McGee team up to get to the bottom of a cross-Atlantic crime. As with Full Irish, the first book in the series, this was a fun read. The scam Paul and Finola investigate seems plausible with tension increasing as they uncover the details of exactly what is going on.One aspect of this series, setting it apart from a run-of-the-mill mystery or thriller, is the differences between the US and Ireland. These are an integral part of the story, giving these books a unique feel and perspective.**Originally written for "Books and Pals" book blog. May have received a free review copy. **
